        In volksmond is dit een bewegingsmelder, maar echter is dit een pasief infrarood detector ( PIR-detector). Zoals jullie dit ook al weten, staat het woordje detector voor dat die bewegingen detecteert. Deze detectoren bevatten, lichaamswarmte en bewegings sensoren op. Door middel van deze eigenschappen kan dit apparaat dus op het plekje waar die staat, meldingen doorgeven aan het alarmpaneel of er bewegingen aanwezig zijn op dat gebied.
